6 Months

It's really hard to believe Caroline has been in our lives 6 months already. As you can see from the videos, she is a happy little girl and an absoulte joy (except when she throws tantrums at bedtime, but we'll just overlook that minor issue). She is almost always willing to share her big smile--even with total strangers. And when she gets the giggles, it's contagious. She is very, very active. Always on the go and looking for something new to experience

Physically, she seems to be very strong. She can maneuver herself around on the floor really well. When she sees something she wants, she can get to it all by herself through a combination of army crawling, inchworming and nose-diving from her hands and knees. Just in the past week, she is starting to be able to coordinate her legs and arms in crawling style too. Caroline is also able to sit by herself for 30 seconds or so without help. If she is sitting still (which isn't often), she can sit for upwards of a minute. She did it in Kindermusik class last week when she was mesmerized by the teacher singing the "Hello Song" which is her favorite.

For the first time last week, she is showing interest in the dogs. She loves to look out the glass doors at them, and she was even smiling while she was looking at Rocky the other day. Unfortunately, her interest in them is not reciprocated as of yet.

Another big change is her hair. Over the past 2 or 3 weeks, it has probably grown a half an inch. And the color is changing to a lighter blonde. There is definitely still some red in it, especially in pictures, but I think she's going to end up being blonde.

Her 6 month doctor's appt. was Friday. Weight was 16 lbs 10 oz. and length was 27 1/2 inches. Exactlty 2 lbs and 2 inches more than at 4 months.

We took a break from solids for the 2 weeks before the appointment. Caroline seemed to not be tolerating the food very well with some digestive upset from the cereal and bananas. The doc said to go ahead and try veggies and to wait 3-4 weeks and try cereal and bananas again. So, yesterday we started carrots. She seems to like them a lot and wolfed down half a jar in one sitting. I think she would have eaten more, but I stopped since this was her first time eating them. We had the rest of the jar today, and she was as equally enthusiastic about them. There are lots of qualities that I hope Caroline inherits from her dad, but his eating habits are not one of them. Her liking carrots gives me hope!!!

Above is a video of Caroline doing this funny smacking thing with her mouth while we were in Florida. Cute!

Now for some videos from home over the past week.
