Feeling Good Again

We're all over the bug. But, pretty much everyone who had contact with Caroline during the weeks that she was sick has at least gotten a touch of it.

So, what's new?

Caroline is really cruising a lot more now, moving between pieces of furniture while walking relatively easily. One of her favorite places to walk is just below the windows in the TV room, holding on to the window crank handles. Last week on Friday (6/20), she stood alone for about 10 seconds.

She is now climbing a full flight of stairs, pretty quickly I might add. At first, she would go on her hands and knees, but now she steps up with her feet (of course, still using her hands on the upper stair for balance). Yesterday, she went up them without me even holding on to her-- just with my hands right behind her.

We have been going to the pool in the afternoons a lot. We put her in her float in the baby pool where she can touch the bottom and she walks around, plays with toys and checks out the other babies and kids. She enjoys going under the fountain and letting the water splash on her.

She has discovered how to open cabinets and drawers this week. So, we've installed some safety latches. I did leave one cabinet for her to play in, filled with Tupperware and a few pans for her to bang on.

Her personality just keeps developing more and more. She is such a smiley girl and she loves to laugh. She even laughs at herself sometimes now. She is constantly babbling and occasionally repeating sounds/words that we say. This morning, we were walking out of the bathroon and Chris was in the shower and I said "bye, bye, Daddy" and she waved and said "ba ba, da da". Pretty good for 10 months.

So, off to Kindermusik this morning. I'll be posting some new pictures soon.

Under the Weather

So the fever turned into a bug that has been going around. We've had coughing, gagging, vomiting, runny nose, stuffy nose and sneezing. And I mananged to catch the cold too. It's been fun around here!
We'll be back when everyone's better.

9 Month Doctor's Appointment

Caroline had her 9 month check-up yesterday. All is well. She weighs 20 lbs 5 oz. and is 28 inches long. That puts her in the 75th percentile for both height and weight, exactly where she has been since 3 months. The good news is that there are no vaccinations at 9 months, which was a nice surprise. The bad news is that she has a fever today anyway. Guess she picked something up at the appointment. Hmmm..... doesn't make sense to me. I take my healthy baby to the doctor to keep her healthy and yet she comes home sick. Argh!

She woke up this morning, wouldn't eat much breakfast and cried every time I tried to put her down. One time when I picked her up, she just put her head down on my shoulder and rested it there for a few minutes. If you know Caroline, there is no resting on her agenda. So, that is how I knew something was wrong. She did feel warm, and when I took her temperature it was 101.6. So, she has had a couple of doses of Tylenol and 2 good naps and the fever is down. Hopefully, it will be gone tomorrow morning. I guess we've been very lucky though. We've made it 9 months and this is the first time she's been sick.

Water Bug!!!

We went to Destin for 10 wonderful days, including the Memorial Day Weekend. This was our first trip that it was warm enough to get Caroline in the water. She loved the Bay and the pool. She enjoyed getting her feet wet in the surf at the beach, but it was really too rough for her to get in the water. So, we had a few short trips to the beach. We also got her a little inflatable pool that we set up for her on the dock and she liked to splash around with her arms and to lean forward and try to drink the water.
