Today started out as a doozey. Caroline woke up at 5:30, 6:30 and 8:30 acting like she was hungry, but then she would only eat for a few minutes and then cry. So, I would change her diaper and she would act sleepy so I put her back to sleep. Not sure why she was waking up. Her diaper doesn't usually bother her. She obviously wasn't hungry. But she did manage to spit up all over me each time after she ate. So, I changed shirts 3 times before 10:00. After I fed her around 10:15, when she finally ate well, I went to change her diaper. I had gotten the wet one off and just as I was reaching for the clean one-- PROJECTILE POOP! All over the changing table, my shirt, my pants, my feet and even the floor. There was some serious force behind that! So, on to my fourth clothing change for the day. All before noon.
After that, I put Caroline on the floor to get her dressed. And I was talking to her. And she started smiling at me. The big whole face smile and turning her head kind of like she was laughing at me. And so I smiled and talked to her and kissed her face and she would smile in response. We continued this way for several minutes. It was so cute! Funny how all those clothing changes and early wakings didn't really seem to matter anymore.
I noticed today that Caroline has started intentionally grabbing onto things with her hands now. She grabbed and held onto my shirt while nursing this morning. And then when she was playing on the Baby Einstein gym she grabbed the mirror and held onto it for a while. Then, much to my surprise, she held on to the side of the structure that hold the toys and rolled herself onto her side. I was impressed!
It is such fun to watch all of these changes that seem to be happening every day. She is really starting to turn into a little person!
