A Little Bling

This week was a challenge for me. I decided that Caroline needed to learn to sleep in the bassinet and Caroline decided that she absolutely would not learn to sleep in the bassinet. We spent hours fighting each other and by Friday, I was pulling my hair out with frustration.
I was in the kitchen Friday night and Chris walked in carrying Caroline and said they had a present for me. Chris had put a necklace around Caroline's neck. It is a very delicate silver chain with round diamonds spaced evenly all the way around. It can be worn either as a long chain or a double loop. It is beautiful and could not have come at a better time! A little bling always makes a girl feel better!
I had my 15 year high school reunion this weekend. My two best friends came into town from Atlanta. One of their mom's lives here in Chattanooga and we went to her house for dinner Friday night. Caroline did great on this outing. She was content the whole night. The reunion party was Saturday night and this was my first time leaving Caroline for more than an hour. Chris stayed home with Caroline so that I could go to the reunion. I must admit I was less than thrilled about the idea of leaving her earlier in the week, but once my friends got here, I was ready to spend time with them. It all went great-- Chris is a wonderful and very capable dad so it didn't even phase me to leave.
Caroline continues to become more alert and aware of her environment. She still loves to look at lights, especially the recessed lights in our ceiling. She is back to sleeping in her carseat at night and the swing during the day when she won't stay asleep in the carseat. Yes, mom lost the battle, but we are both much happier and well-rested with this arrangement!
