Caroline decided on Sunday night that she doesn't want to take a bottle anymore. The week before, she had taken 5 or 6 without much problem. Then on Sunday and Monday nights, she just wouldn't have it. The more Chris tried to get her to take it, the more it upset her. We even tried a different kind of bottle/nipple combo and a different batch of milk. Sunday night, she just cried herself to sleep, but Monday I thought I'd see if she just wasn't really hungry. So, I tried to breastfeed her and she latched on immediately. Chris and I were laughing at how voraciously she latched on-- it was obvious she wanted me and not the bottle. My biggest fear when we started the bottle was that she would want it and not me. I guess I got what I wanted to the extreme. We plan to keep trying to get her to take it. I really only want her to have an occasional bottle--from Chris or a grandparent every now and then just to give me a little more freedom. So, we shall see. Who knew a 7 week old could be stubborn!
She's really starting to develop a little personality. She smiles much more often now and has started making cooing sounds.
Last night, Chris was holding her in his lap with his feet on the ottoman and with her resting on his thighs facing him. He pulled her up to a sitting position and she sat and held her head up on her own for 10 or 15 seconds several times. We though that was pretty cool!
